My Portfolio

Below are some descriptions and links to sites I've worked on. The things I like to do are:

  • Sell the idea of a more usable design to skeptics.
  • Sketch out interaction patterns.
  • Explain why a design decision was made.
  • Use data to reduce assumptions.
  • Gather data through user testing or analytics.
I'm proficient with Visio, Omnigraffle and a pencil.

At Enlighten

Hunter Douglas -

As the lead information architect on a large scale re-design of Hunter Douglas's consumer website I've produced the wireframes and documentation for the site and lead client meetings during a highly iterative design phase. Working with Enlighten's designers and engineers we developed prototypes of the interactions and conducted user tests to evaluate these prototypes. I've also provided usability support and recommendations for the iMagine Design Center, Hunter Douglas's Flash based room visualization tool.

MGAE Entertainment -

Working as part of a large multinational team, I collaborated with another information architect to develop the interfaces and support the interactions for the BeBratz and MyePets online virtual worlds. I was responsible for documenting the MyePets game world and insuring that the audience of 3-5 year-old users enjoyed these online worlds. Using an iterative design process that incorporated client-led focus groups we found and were often surprised at what worked best for this audience. I was also responsible for making sure that the application's registration procedure complied with COPPA regulations.

With Rosenfeld Media

Ecommerce shopping cart -

To help launch the Rosenfeld Media store I worked as an information architect and product manager overseeing the storefront's successful launch. The project flexed my knowledge of PHP and CSS, and I gained client management skills through close collaboration with the business owner, Lou Rosenfeld. Wireframes and a prototype example of this project are available in my work samples.

UX Zeitgeist -

I started work on the User Experience Zeitgeist while still a student and it became my first significant contract. I've served as an information architect, working with the web designer and business owner to shape the visual presentation of the information. As the site incorporates numerous data feeds I've learned quite a bit of the volatility of web services and the expectations of an observant community. You can see work samples from this project.
